Centa Lothy Rek Lopez was born on 27 August 1954 and is a Bolivian novelist, politician, and psychoanalyst who served as senator for Santa Cruz from 2010 to 2015 and since 2020.

Together with her colleague, German Antelo, Centa Rek sought to build the foundations of a new political party, but opposition infighting caused the project to flounder.

Centa Rek was born on 27 August 1954 in San Jose de Chiquitos, a small town situated in eastern Santa Cruz's tropical Chiquitania region.

On her father's side, Centa Rek is of ethnic German descent; the family's presence in the region dates back to her grandparents, who first settled the Chiquitania with their children, where they developed extensive careers in agriculture and cattle ranching.

Centa Rek was raised in her birth town of San Jose de Chiquitos alongside five siblings as well as a few rural girls her parents hosted.

Centa Rek completed her final year of secondary in Santa Cruz de la Sierra before traveling to the United States as part of a cultural exchange program.
