Derrick Sharp played with the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club for 15 years, spending part of the time as the team's captain, and later served as the team's assistant coach under David Blatt.
Derrick Sharp then played college basketball at the University of South Florida, where he played with the South Florida Bulls, from 1991 to 1993.
In July 2011, Derrick Sharp retired from playing professional basketball, at the age of 39.
