Dominic Manucy served as the first Vicar Apostolic of Brownsville from 1874 until his death in 1885, and served as the third Bishop of Mobile for a few months in 1884.

Dominic Manucy then returned to Mobile, being appointed assistant pastor of Immaculate Conception Cathedral and later pastor of St Vincent's Church.
