Ernest Yao Gaewu was born on on 18 April 1969 and is a Ghanaian lawyer and judge who is in active service at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

Ernest Gaewu attended Awudome Senior High School for his Ordinary Level education and Mawuli School for his Advanced Level education.

Ernest Gaewu then proceeded to the University of Ghana in 1995 to study law.

Ernest Gaewu was the Bar's representative at the Volta Prison Council and served for two terms.
