Franck Riester has represented the fifth constituency of Seine-et-Marne in the National Assembly since 2024, having previously held the seat from 2017 to 2018 and briefly in 2022.
Franck Riester was a member of the National Assembly from 2007 until 2018.
From June 2017, Franck Riester co-chaired UDI and Independents group in the National Assembly, alongside Stephane Demilly.
Franck Riester was excluded from the Republicans on 31 October 2017, alongside Gerald Darmanin, Sebastien Lecornu and Thierry Solere.
Franck Riester was a candidate for mayor of Coulommiers in the 2020 French municipal elections which he won in the first round with more than 50 percent of the vote, but entrusted the role of mayor to Laurence Picard.
