Gegong Apang was born on 10 January 1947 and is an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh.

Gegong Apang served as the 3rd Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh from 18 January 1980 to 19 January 1999 and again from August 2003 to April 2007.

Gegong Apang is a member of the Janata Dal and was a member of the Indian National Congress before 2016.

Gegong Apang started his political career as a member of the Congress Pradesh Council between 1972 and 1975 after passing out from JN College, Pasighat.

Gegong Apang became the member of the first provisional Assembly between 1975 and 1978 and served as its agriculture minister in 1977.

Gegong Apang was elected to the first Legislative Assembly of the state in the year 1978 and was appointed its PWD and agriculture minister.

Gegong Apang won the 1978,1980 and 1984 assembly elections from Yingkiong-Pangin Assembly Constituency.
