James Mangold made his debut as a film director with Heavy, and is best known for the films Cop Land, Girl, Interrupted, Identity, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, and two Wolverine films in the X-Men films with The Wolverine and Logan, the latter of which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.


James Mangold then directed the sports drama film Ford v Ferrari, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
