Jimly Asshiddiqie was born on 17 April 1956 and is an Indonesian academic who served as the first chief justice of Indonesia's Constitutional Court from 2003 to 2008.

Jimly Asshiddiqie obtained his law degree from the University of Indonesia in 1982.

In 1998, Jimly became a Professor of Constitutional Law at the UI Faculty of Law.
