The Etemaad news story reports that at the time of the attack, Nazanin Fatehi was a runaway who was disowned by her family; however, a phone interview with Nazanin Fatehi's mother is reported to have shown that her mother displayed great concern about her daughter's fate, and that she tearfully pleaded for her daughter's life.
