Peng Xiaolian is known for her series of films about Shanghai, including Once Upon a Time in Shanghai, which won the Best Picture Award of the Huabiao Awards; Shanghai Story, which won four Golden Rooster Awards including Best Director and Best Picture; and Shanghai Rumba, based on the romance of the movie star couple Zhao Dan and Huang Zongying.
