Seth Franklin Berkley was born on October 18,1956 and is an American medical epidemiologist and a global advocate of the power of vaccines.

Seth Berkley is the founder and former president and CEO of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and former CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

Seth Berkley is currently a senior advisor to the Pandemic Center at Brown University School of Public Health.

In 1974, Berkley was graduated from McBurney School, a private school in New York City.

From 1984 to 1986, Seth Berkley worked as a medical epidemiologist for the Center for Infectious Diseases of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.

Seth Berkley conducted an investigation of an outbreak of Brazilian Purpuric Fever, a disease that was killing children in Brazil, and helped to discover the etiologic agent.
