Siro Lombardini served as the minister of state holdings between 5 August 1979 and 4 April 1980 in the first cabinet of Francesco Cossiga.

Siro Lombardini was the president of the Italian banking institute Banca Popolare di Novara.

Siro Lombardini held a bachelor's degree in economics and commerce which he received from Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 1946.

Siro Lombardini continued his studies at London School of Economics in 1949 and at the University of Chicago which he completed in 1951.

In 1947 Lombardini began his career as a research assistant and following the completion of his PhD he started to give courses in political economy at his alma mater, Universita Cattolica.
